Fun Weekend

We had a very fun weekend which included; hosting our weekly neighborhood happy hour, Napier annual street sale, block party dinner, swimming lessons and a family trip to the horse races...whew! A good time was had by all. The happy hour is a really fun way for us to stay in touch and get to know our neighbors better. The Annual street sale and block party is always fun. The girls got a slightly used etch-a-sketch and a tricycle. The church across the street always makes a delicious East Indian lunch that we enjoyed. For the Block Party Dinner, David made spinach dip, a real hit with the neighbors and me, and stuffed bell peppers. The dinner is really turning into a potluck and there were many wonderful dishes. Most memorable were the tomato soup, banana pudding, mixed berry pie, ribs and randang curry. There was so much good food. Then after dinner we listened to jazz, courtesy of our neighbor Erin and her band, who played through a late afternoon thundershower. Faye LOVED it, it was hard to get a photo of her not moving her limbs to the music. She is quite the dancer these days. Swimming lessons on Sunday was another successful lesson. The girls are both being submerged under the water and don't mind it, both are quite comfortable in the pool. The most interesting part of our trip to the pool though is afterwards as we, all 4, hit the family showers. It is a small private room (size of a small bathroom) with one shower head that releases water with the push of a button for 10 to 20 seconds. There is a bench and 4 hooks, nothing else. The girls are held the entire time. It is quite the gong show, but somehow after 30 minutes, we all emerge clean, dry and through no tears! The last part of our action packed weekend was spent at the horse races. We went to meet up with some of David's old co-workers, but as luck would have it the girls both had long naps and by the time we got there, all our friends had left. We still had fun, though. The girls loved watching the horses, enjoy the pics of our fun weekend!
