Happy Hanukkah!

We had a wonderful Hanukkah, all 8 nights. We ate lots of latkes, doughnuts and gelt.  We threw a party for our neighbors and went to a few, including a very nice one at our Temple.  The girls were wonderful through the entire service.  It was fun to open one gift each night with the girls (what a good way to teach patience...for us and the girls), light the Hanukkiah's and hear the girls recite the prayers.  Faye told me, "my teacher, Michele, speaks 3 languages, Hebrew, Spanish and English and I speak 2, Hebrew and English." She definitely speaks more Hebrew than David or I and if she continues at this school, she will definitely be fluent in 2 languages.  The girls both had parties at school and helped me make Hanukkah cookies...they also helped me eat them!

Maddie at school, in one of her favorite dresses, she rarely wears anything else these days, dresses and tights!

Hanukkah Gelt

David and I made laktes for our neighbors at our Hanukkah party!

David taught our neighbors how to play driedel...with chocolate.

Driedel, driedel, driedel, I made it out of clay...

and when it's dry and ready, my driedel I shall play, oh...

1st night of hanukkah love.

We have 4 Hanukkiah's and lit all of them the 1st night (Faye made the one of the left and Maddie the one on the right at school).

Maddie sporting a Hanukkah gift, new dress and sparkly tights.

Faye enjoying her jelly doughnut, a Hanukkah fave, when the girls saw this photo they laughed and laughed.

Maddie opened her favorite and most anticipated gift...Tic tacs from Faye.

Their big gift was a kitchen, it only took David and I 3 hours and a bottle of wine to get through putting this together, David is taking their photo as they see it for the first time.

Mere seconds later...

One of Faye's Hanukkah gifts, we love books!

Maddie opened this gift and put it on right away.
